Did you know that garnets come in several colors? Most people think of garnets as Claret Red, but they are also available in Green (Tsavorite), Orange (Spessartite), yellow.
February - Amethyst
March - Aquamarine, Bloodstone
April - Diamond
May - Emerald
June - Pearl, Moonstone
July - Ruby
August - Peridot, Sardonyx
September - Sapphires
Sapphires come in every color and have almost as much fire as diamonds. Of course, the traditional Ceylon Blue is most well-known and highly prized, but so are orange, pink, peach, yellow, white, purple, orchid...try combinining different sapphires in one piece.)
